RRA Network Foundation

Addressing Rainfed Issues

Overview

The Foundation shall focus on addressing challenges in rainfed agriculture through two key themes:

.

(i) Reducing Risk and Building Resilience

(ii) Transforming Food Systems and Ensuring Nutrition Security.

.
To build resilience, the Foundation will support climate-resilient solutions across diverse agro-climatic zones, supporting small and marginal farmers while strengthening evidence-based practices through capacity-building initiatives involving state agencies and civil society organizations. It shall give due weightage to replicability of these solutions.

To transform food systems, the Foundation aims to establish comprehensive support structures for agroecological farming, including Bio-Resource Centres, seed systems, diverse cropping patterns, livestock, fisheries, and other allied sectors. Additionally, it shall develop ecosystem services for localized processing, consumption, and value chain creation to enhance food security in rainfed regions.

In supporting these efforts the foundation shall keenly focus on building capacities for collective action by empowering civil society organizations, community-based organizations (CBOs), youth, and women to cultivate self-governance in rainfed issues.

Furthermore, it shall support initiatives that seek to enhance state capacity by engaging with state departments such as Agriculture, Tribal Welfare, and Rural Development to co-develop effective programs tailored for rainfed agriculture.

Grants under this portfolio shall be given to individuals, CBOs and CSOs.
